Expert Ecotoxicological/Ecological Modeling (m/f)

Your tasks and responsibilities

• Develop tools to conduct science-based risk assessment for plant protection products using mechanistic simulation models with special focus on toxicokinetics/toxicodynamics modelling to link standard laboratory experiments to specific protection goals • Be globally responsible for assigned active substances (state-of-the-art exposure and risk assessments for regulatory purposes) and establish/maintain a broader global Bayer Crop Science network • Drive innovation in methodology and processes for data acquisition, integration and interpretation through own expertise and experience and by collaborating with internal experts and external research institutes • Contribute to a wide range of issues and act cross-functionally to effectively achieve solutions • Provide planning, scheduling and cost estimates to regulatory or project managers for all function-relevant studies and track their progress • Be responsible for strategic steering/coordination, presentation and defence of complex risk assessments to internal and external experts and authorities • Contribute to/lead advanced, complex and interdisciplinary projects and studies • Familiarize continuously with world-wide evolving regulatory requirements and systems such as risk assessment paradigms, acceptance criteria and cooperation in multi-stakeholder efforts to establish scientifically sound regulations

Who you are

• University degree (PhD or equivalent qualification) in natural sciences (preferably biology) with several years of experience within the area of effect modelling, ecotoxicology and/or ecology • In-depth knowledge in mechanistic modelling (individual (agent-)based population models and toxicokinetic/toxicodynamic modeling, especially DEB and GUTS) • Experience in modelling behavior of animals as well as practical experience in ecotoxicological testing or ecological monitoring is beneficial • Out-of-the-box mindset to open up new routes off the beaten path • High ability to solve problems and to structure and simplify complex tasks • Ability to cooperate in multi-disciplinary teams, communicate complex issues to non-experts and prepare scientific basis for regulatory and managerial decisions • High degree of commitment as well as ability to take action for continuous improvement • Excellent communication and negotiation skills • Fluency in English, both verbal and written
