Research Scientist Bioinformatics for Innovative Medicines Initiative IMMUcan project (m/f/d)

Your tasks and responsibilities


  • Participate in this EU-funded IMI project in the field molecular biology, high throughput omics and biomarker data analysis and work as a member (m/f/d) of a large multi-disciplinary team
  • Share responsibility for collection, curation and advanced analysis of bulk tumor as well as single cell RNA-seq public and proprietary data
  • Evaluate, implement and use state-of-the-art computational methods to generate new scientific insights and discoveries
  • Contribute significantly to highly innovative research projects in oncology, gynecological therapies, cardiovascular or adjacent indications reaching or at least significantly contribute gate stage decisions
  • Identify novel targets or biomarkers in above indications using state-of-the-art bioinformatics methods to analyze large and complex data sets
  • Develope, evaluate, implement and application of novel bioinformatics methods on complex data sets
  • Collaborate with academic or commercial partners as well as support occasionally scientific personnel (master or PhD students)
  • Maintain interfaces between R&D and IT functions


Who you are


  • PhD degree in bioinformatics, biostatistics, informatics, biochemistry, biophysics, biology, medicine or equivalent research areas, alternatively PhD-equivalent research activities
  • Several years of working experience in the field of RNA-sequencing data analysis is essential 
  • Experience in the analysis of data from cancer, immunology, and single cell RNA-seq would be an important asset
  • Profound capabilities in programming and scripting (R, Python) as well as experience with high-performance computing, cloud computing, and workflow systems are beneficial
  • Strong background in and passion to make new discoveries by data integration, data and knowledge management, data annotation and big data analytics
  • Highly self-motivated and strive for scientific excellence
  • Keen to work within and across interdisciplinary teams
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken



This is a fixed-term contract for 2 years.
