Research Scientist Bioinformatics for Innovative Medicines Initiative project FAIRplus (m/f/d)

Your tasks and responsibilities

 

  • Participate in 3-year EU-funded IMI-project FAIRplus as a member (m/f/d) of a large multi-disciplinary team
  • Drive "FAIRification" of public and proprietary data and develop guidelines and tools on how to do so properly to eventually generate new scientific insights and discoveries
  • Contribute significantly to highly innovative research projects in oncology, gynecological therapies, cardiovascular or adjacent indications reaching or at least significantly contribute to gate stage decisions
  • Make data FAIR to eventually identify novel targets or biomarkers in above indications using state-of-the-art bioinformatics methods to analyze large and complex data sets more efficiently
  • Develope, evaluate, implement, and application of novel bioinformatics methods to scale up FAIRification of complex data sets
  • Collaborate with academic or commercial partners as well as support occasionally scientific personnel (master or PhD students)
  • Maintain interfaces between R&D and IT functions

 

Who you are

 

  • PhD degree in bioinformatics, biostatistics, informatics, biochemistry, biophysics, biology, medicine or equivalent areas, alternatively PhD-equivalent research activities 
  • Several years of working experience in the field of data and knowledge management incl. semantics and ontologies
  • Profound capabilities in programming and scripting (R, Python) as well as experience with high-performance computing, cloud computing, would be an asset
  • Hands-on experience of making data FAIR are requested
  • Strong background in and passion to enable new discoveries by efficient data integration, data and knowledge management, data annotation and big data analytics
  • Very good communications skills and capability to present complex issues clearly and convincingly to project teams
  • Highly self-motivated and strive for scientific excellence
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
